Car key services

All keys lost

No key at all? We generate a new one from the vehicle and program it to the immobilizer, right where the car sits.

Transponder chip keys

The standard key on most cars since the late 1990s. Cut and programmed in one visit.

Remote head keys and flip keys

Key and remote in one unit, programmed for locking, unlocking and starting.

Key fobs and smart keys

Proximity fobs for push-to-start and keyless-entry vehicles, programmed on site for many makes.

Duplicate and spare keys

Have one key? A spare now is far cheaper than an all-keys-lost job later.

Stolen keys

We program the car to reject the stolen key so it can't be used to start the vehicle.

Fob repair and batteries

Not every dead fob needs replacing. We diagnose first.

Emergency blades and cases

Replacement mechanical blades and worn-out fob shells.

When you need a replacement key

  • You've lost every key to the car. Don't tow it to a dealer, call us first.
  • Your keys were stolen and you want the old key disabled.
  • You bought a used car that came with a single key.
  • The fob stopped working and a battery didn't fix it.
  • The key is bent, cracked or the blade is worn enough to stick.
  • You want a spare so a lost key is an inconvenience, not an emergency.

How we make a key with no original

First we verify ownership: your ID and registration or title, because we won't cut a key for a car that isn't yours. Then we generate the key from the vehicle itself, by reading the lock or pulling the key code, and cut it on the van. Finally we program the transponder or fob to the car's immobilizer so it starts. For most domestic, Japanese and Korean vehicles that's one visit and you drive away. We'll also program a spare while we're there if you want one, which is much cheaper than doing it separately later.

Which cars we can and can't do

Domestic, Japanese and Korean makes are everyday work for us. Some late-model European and luxury vehicles use security systems that require dealer-only tools, and for those we'll tell you on the phone rather than drive out and disappoint you. Give us the year, make and model and you'll get a straight answer and a price in one call.

Locksmith or dealership?

  • We come to the car. The dealer needs the car brought to them, which with no key means a tow.
  • Same day, usually same visit. Dealers often schedule key work days out.
  • For most vehicles the total is lower, and there's no tow bill on top.
  • The dealer is the right call for a handful of late-model European and luxury models. We'll say so.

Car Keys questions

Can you make a key if I lost all of them?

Yes. We generate a new key from the vehicle and program it on site. Bring ID and proof of ownership.

How much does a replacement car key cost?

A standard transponder key typically runs $150 to $350 all-keys-lost, and smart keys or proximity fobs more, depending on the vehicle. A duplicate while you still have a key is far less. Call with your year, make and model for an exact price.

Do you program key fobs for push-to-start cars?

For many makes and models, yes, on site. Tell us the vehicle and we'll confirm.

Is a locksmith key as good as a dealer key?

Yes. We use OEM-equivalent or OEM keys and program them to the same immobilizer the dealer would. The car doesn't know the difference.
